The Counseling and Treatment Center is founded on a holistic approach to service delivery, recognizing that adults, TAY, and older adults with severe mental illness can benefit from connections to primary care physicians, access to non-traditional and culturally acceptable healing communities, support from peers and family, education about mental illness and substance use that is culturally appropriate, employment support services, and skill development.

Qualifications and Eligibility Criteria

Minimum specifications:

A master’s degree in social work, psychology, counseling, or human behavior with a focus on clinical therapy from an authorized college or university is required, as is registration with the Board of Behavioral Sciences or Board of Psychology.

Additional requirements include:

Proficiency in individual therapy, evaluations, crisis intervention, and case management; familiarity with psychotherapy theory and practice, as well as community mental health and drug use principles and practice
disorders
Knowledge of cultural competency in the provision of mental health services; familiarity with and dedication to the psychosocial rehabilitation model of psychiatric rehabilitation services; a strong belief in empowering clients/consumers towards recovery; and expertise in diagnosing clients using the DSM-5 and ICD-10
Knowledge of local resources and case management services
The capacity to build and sustain relationships in psychotherapy and diagnosis while having a strong grasp of professional and ethical norms.
Proficiency in both individual and group treatment.
It is preferred to have a bilingual or bicultural background in the threshold language.
The General Services Administration and/or the Inspector General’s Department of Health and Human Services will not prohibit or ban them from participating in federal programs.
It is necessary to pass the Live Scan Fingerprint background check.

Role and Responsibilities:

The program therapist will create initial and ongoing treatment plans for clients and perform initial and ongoing mental health screens and behavioral health evaluations.
Offer TAY (transitional-aged youth), adults, and older adults individual, family, and group therapy; offer crisis intervention services, including evaluation for voluntary or involuntary hospitalizations, as necessary.
Provide case management, family education and support, crisis intervention activities, and, if necessary, triage and assessment of walk-in clients.
Work as a member of a multidisciplinary team and take part in diagnosis, treatment, and discharge planning; be trained and experienced in diagnosing clients using the DMS-5; connect clients with primary care physicians and psychiatrists; connect clients to resources to obtain vocation, educational, and/or housing objectives;
creates medical records for every service provided, including quality control and care coordination with outside providers.
Ensure that all necessary reports are accurately and promptly documented.
Receives referrals from community members and providers and follows up appropriately, including providing crisis intervention if necessary; contacts the designated Reporting Party (RP) for each client referral in order to recognize the referral and, if available, acquire information.
Oversee a caseload of over 80 clients with serious mental health issues.
The size of the caseload will vary, and services can be rendered via Zoom, the phone, or the office.
Maintains a client and service tracking system and takes part in staff meetings, case conferences, treatment team meetings, trainings, utilization reviews, and other quality assurance activities.
