The Payroll Manager will collaborate directly with the Vice President of Accounting and Finance on end-to-end payroll, including payroll processing and proper management of deductions, benefits, and taxes. This position serves as a liaison between the HR, benefits, accounting, finance, and operations departments. The Payroll Manager is in charge of all payroll activities, including accurate, timely, and compliant weekly and bi-weekly payments, tax withholdings, and benefit deductions. Staff management, tax legislation and regulation enforcement, payroll software updates, and record audits are among the primary responsibilities. They demand good analytical skills, attention to detail, and knowledge of payroll systems (Dayforce).

Qualifications and Eligibility Criteria 

Certification and Other Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field desired.
• 5+ years of progressive leadership in payroll, including at least 3 years in a leadership capacity
• Dayforce HCM experience is essential.

Travel requirements

  • Minimal travel is necessary for this position.

Role and Responsibilities:

  • Payroll Processing: Manage the complete multi-jurisdictional payroll cycle on a weekly and biweekly basis, including California, Federal, Jones Act, and Prevailing Wage for both hourly and salaried personnel. Manage the employment termination procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll standards, such as tax reporting and wage-and-hour laws, as well as corporate policies and processes.
  • System Administration: Manage and update payroll systems/HRIS to ensure efficiency, ensuring system integrations work smoothly and without errors.
  • Auditing and reporting: Evaluate payroll systems, generate reports for top management and audit partners, and resolve difficult issues.
  • Record Keeping: Keep accurate records of payroll transactions and employee data to ensure the organization is constantly audit-ready.

TASKS & DUTIES:

  • Project management and reporting, including certified payroll reporting
  • End-to-end payroll processing, including hourly timesheet approval by employees and managers
  • Maintain staff headcount and turnover data as appropriate.
  • Maintain positive connections with workers and departments, and provide exceptional customer service to all CMC stakeholders.
  • Set up and report on all federal, state, and municipal jurisdictions
  • Complete employment verifications.
  • Manage and submit payroll garnishments.
