The general manager of the restaurant is in charge of managing the workforce, providing excellent customer service, managing the finances, and ensuring that the business runs smoothly. This position entails making sure the restaurant meets operational and financial objectives while providing patrons with an outstanding dining experience. In addition to leading and overseeing the staff, the restaurant general manager will also enforce corporate policies, uphold high standards of service, and stimulate sales growth.

Qualifications and Eligibility Criteria 

  • A bachelor’s degree in business administration, hospitality management, or a similar discipline is preferred.
  • At least two years in a leadership position throughout five or more years of experience in restaurant management or a similar field
  • Demonstrated expertise in overseeing restaurant operations, including personnel, finances, and customer service
  • Strong knowledge of budgeting, cost control, and restaurant finances
  • Knowledge of inventory control, vendor relations, and menu planning
  • Outstanding customer service abilities, emphasizing the creation of a remarkable visitor experience
    thorough understanding of restaurant operations, including culinary, service, and front-of-house procedures
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, restaurant management software, and point-of-sale (POS) systems
  • Capacity to monitor sales, evaluate financial information, and put revenue-growth plans into action
  • Understanding of health and safety laws, such as those pertaining to food safety, cleanliness, and alcohol

Role and Responsibilities:

  • Management of Operations: Oversee the restaurant’s everyday operations, making sure that all aspects of cleanliness, kitchen operations, and service adhere to company standards.
    Maintain a seamless and effective workflow to guarantee that customers are seated on time, orders are processed precisely, and food is served on schedule.
  • Employee Development & Management
    All restaurant employees, including waiters, bartenders, hostesses, cooks, and supervisors, should be led, trained, and overseen.
    Plan employee shifts to guarantee proper coverage during holidays, special events, and peak hours.
    To enhance team performance, do frequent performance reviews and offer coaching.
  • Budgeting and Financial Management
    Create and oversee the restaurant’s budget, making sure that all financial objectives—including income, labor expenses, and food and beverage costs—are fulfilled.
    To increase profitability, keep an eye on and manage operating expenditures, such as labor, inventory, and food costs.
    Examine sales patterns and put revenue-boosting tactics like events, promotions, and upselling campaigns into action.
  • Excellence in Guest Experience and Service
    Make sure that every visitor receives the best possible dining experience by upholding the highest standards of service.
    Set an example by keeping a customer-first mindset and professionally and effectively handling any issues or grievances from visitors.
