You will assess and enhance the Google Search user experience in this position. The team collaborates across functional boundaries and tackles problems at the cutting edge of generative AI assessment. You will use analytical and statistical techniques to the problems of evaluating quality, creating metrics, and enhancing training data for model creation using the data sources that are currently available.
As a vital team player, you will collaborate with academics and engineers to create measures, evaluate and interpret data, and incorporate new approaches into assessment systems that are already in place.
In order to guide and build Search Quality models and iterations, as well as the Search product overall, the Core Ranking DS team creates and supports evaluation methods and metrics. To provide Search users with relevant and reliable material, you will collaborate with engineers, researchers, and product managers both inside and outside of Search.
Qualifications and Eligibility Criteria
- An advanced degree in a quantitative discipline such as statistics, data science, mathematics, physics, economics, operations research, engineering, or a similar field, or comparable real-world experience.
- Three years of work experience with a PhD degree, five years of experience using analytics to solve business or product challenges, coding (e.g., Python, R, SQL), database querying, or statistical analysis.
- Six years of work experience with a PhD degree, eight years of expertise using analytics to solve business or product challenges, coding (e.g., Python, R, SQL), database querying, or statistical analysis
- Expertise working on items ranging from 0 to 1.
- Familiarity with evaluating data.
Role and Responsibilities:
- Work with data sets, resolve non-routine analysis issues, use analytical techniques when necessary, and carry out analysis that involves requirements formulation, data collection, processing, analysis, continuous deliverables, and presentations.
- Develop an understanding of Google data formats and metrics, build and prototype analysis pipelines iteratively to deliver insights at scale, and advocate for changes where necessary for business strategy and product development.
- Engage in cross-functional communication with a diverse range of individuals and groups, and collaborate with engineers to find design opportunities and evaluate Google product enhancements.
- Using visual displays of quantitative data, convey findings at various stakeholder levels and offer business advice (e.g., cost-benefit, forecasting, experiment analysis).
Investigate and create analytical techniques to raise Google Search’s caliber.

Employee Benefits
- For this full-time role, the base pay ranges from $166,000 to $244,000. Bonuses, equity, and perks are also included. Role, level, and location all affect our pay ranges. Workplace location and other elements, such as experience, abilities, and pertinent education or training, determine an individual’s compensation within the range.
