Qualifications and Eligibility Criteria 

  • A GED or a high school diploma is required.
  • One year of prior experience working in customer service is necessary.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office or other computer platforms is necessary.
  • Two years of college-level coursework or two years of experience working in customer service over the phone.
  • Experience with healthcare, benefits, call centers, processing claims, or facets.
  • Establish a consistent schedule: work an 8-hour shift from 5 a.m. to 8 p.m. Pacific Time, Monday through Friday.

  • Paid online instruction for 12 weeks with a 100% attendance requirement.
  • Work from home 40 hours a week.
  • A one-time pre-tax allocation of $500 (less taxes) will be given by Premera for home office furniture upon successful completion of the 12-week training program.

Roles and Responsibilities 

  • Responsible for inbound and/or outgoing phone-based customer service; resolves first calls and/or emails, de-escalates contacts, and educates callers through precise and transparent information sharing.
  • Issues should be promptly followed up on, resolved, and documented. Refer questions that require more research to the relevant department, and carry out regular studies as required.
  • Send incoming documents to the appropriate departments for completion and follow up on outstanding matters.
  • Maintain Personal Protected Information (PPI) regulations while working with extremely sensitive data.
  • Demonstrates dependable and consistent conduct, attendance, and performance goals and metrics.

  • Gain expertise in first-call resolution and customer education by providing precise and understandable information.
  • Develop your ability to look at requests, investigate claim status, and escalate problems when needed.
  • Manage incoming and outgoing calls, keep track of all conversations, and make sure that information is exchanged accurately to improve communication skills.
  • Continue to gain expertise using Microsoft Office and other computer programs, as well as managing extremely sensitive data while adhering to PPI regulations.
  • In order to follow up on outstanding tasks and properly route queries, you must learn to manage your time and execute regularly and dependably while reaching performance targets and KPIs.
