PayPal Hiring Data Engineer in Wilmington, Delaware @ paypal.com – This position is essential in ensuring that we create and offer accurate, scalable, efficient, and performant back-end data architecture for analysts, scientists, and downstream business intelligence tools. The RI Data Engineer will work with a variety of technologies, including Hadoop, Hive, Scala/Spark, Python, and relational SQL databases, to create data transportation and transformation strategies.
Qualifications and Eligibility Criteria
Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative subject (e.g., computer science, engineering, mathematics, statistics, data sciences, operations research, financial engineering, systems analysis) is necessary. 7+ years of expertise developing big, scalable database platforms, with an emphasis on data model optimization for a variety of data integration and consumption patterns. Increasing degrees of responsibility, data modelling competence.
Roles and Responsibilities
Assist in the development of a strong, long-lasting, accurate, and scalable Risk Intelligence data architecture that meets company needs and allows for future growth. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to better understand the business needs for data solutions. Define the data needs from source data systems with end users, business analysts, technical architects, and developers, and create appropriate data structures for purpose-built solutions. Design data transportation mechanisms and employ best practices to handle extremely big datasets. Evolves data models in response to new and evolving company needs and growth.
