OluKai Is Hiring a Content Architect | Irvine (CA), USA @olukai.com
At the nexus of strategy, storytelling, operations, and performance is the content architect. This position is in charge of OluKai’s content engine, which determines how the brand appears editorially on all platforms, including social media, e-commerce, owned retail, wholesale, and events.
This position involves more than just content management. The content architect uses a data-driven approach to drive content performance, develop scalable systems and standards, and contribute editorial vision. In order to transform brand strategy into narratives that inspire people and propel the company forward, you will work directly with the CMO, SVP Creative, Director of Marketing, creative leadership, social media, e-commerce, and retail teams.
Location and Office Structure: This is a hybrid in-office role that requires four days of work each week in an Irvine, California office, with the flexibility to work from home one day. Subject to change at any time in accordance with corporate policies.
Qualifications and Eligibility Criteria
- A bachelor’s degree in English, journalism, marketing, communications, or a similar discipline.
- More than five years of progressive experience in editorial management, content strategy, or brand content positions, ideally in high-end clothing, footwear, or lifestyle brands.
- A track record of developing and implementing multi-channel editorial strategies that generate quantifiable commercial outcomes and brand equity.
- Outstanding editing and writing abilities, including a good grasp of brand voice and a keen editorial eye.
- Expertise in overseeing creative teams, independent contractors, and content creation processes.
- Solid grasp of the fundamentals of content architecture, including content governance, DAM systems, taxonomy, and metadata.
- Strong understanding of e-commerce content optimization and digital performance analytics.
- Expertise with editorial planning and project management software (such as Asana, Airtable, Notion, or similar programs).
- Knowledge of the changing field of content operations and AI-assisted content technologies.
- Extremely well-organized, cooperative, and composed in the face of conflicting objectives and deadlines.

Role and Responsibilities:
1. Brand Vision & Editorial Strategy
- In accordance with the CMO and SVP Creative, uphold and manage the editorial vision and brand content strategy.
- Describe OluKai’s storytelling themes and content pillars, making sure they accurately convey the Aloha spirit, ocean culture, and the brand’s premium status.
- Create content projects that complement important business goals, such as performance marketing, go-to-market messaging, and social KPIs.
- Determine and customize content for different audience segments through international, wholesale, and consumer channels.
- Collaborate on content narratives and priority initiatives with the CMO, SVP Creative, and Director of Marketing.
2. Editorial Calendar & Content Planning
- Take charge of the editorial roadmap. Create and oversee the master content calendar for every business unit and channel.
- Plan your content in accordance with go-to-market priorities, such as important product launches, drops, partnerships, store openings, trade exhibitions, and cultural events.
- Organize and plan the delivery of material across a variety of channels, including social media, the internet, email, owned retail, wholesale, and Amazon.
- Collaborate with the director of marketing to determine the most important content moments associated with important revenue drivers (e.g., seasonal releases, BFCM).
- Make sure that brand-building and commercial storytelling are given equal weight in content planning.
3. Content Creation & Production Oversight
- Write, edit, and refine content across touchpoints; develop detailed briefs for creative teams and external contributors.
- Manage and direct freelance writers, photographers, videographers, copywriters, and production partners.
- Oversee content production workflows in partnership with the Creative leadership, video editors, copywriter, and project manager.
- Ensure consistency of voice, tone, and quality across every consumer and trade touchpoint.
- Build and maintain a content governance model including standards, approval processes, and version control.
4. Systems & Content Architecture
- In the DAM and CMS, support OluKai’s content taxonomy, metadata frameworks, and organizational structure.
- Make scalable content models that embrace the “create once, publish anywhere” philosophy and allow materials to be effectively categorized, organized, and reused across channels.
- Work together with the wholesale account, IT, and e-commerce teams to make sure that content is seamlessly integrated across platforms and partner websites and applications.
- Assess and put into practice technology and solutions that improve the brand’s content capabilities at scale, such as AI-assisted content workflows.
- Create localization policies and content frameworks that protect brand voice for distributors and global markets.
5. Cooperation Across Functions
- Collaborate with the Social Coordinator on platform-specific optimization, content distribution, and amplification for all social media platforms.
- Work together with the e-commerce team to ensure that stores are connected to brand moments by bringing digital storytelling to life through content.
6. Optimization and Performance
- Establish and monitor content KPIs across owned digital channels, including as traffic, engagement, time on page, CTR, and conversion.
- Finding high-performing content themes, styles, and cadences using analytics will help you consistently improve your content strategy.
- Keep up with changes in how consumers find content, such as the increasing importance of social search, creator platforms, and AI-generated results.
