We are looking for a Principal AI Solutions Architect to be our most senior technical IC within a certain industry vertical, such as financial services, healthcare, private equity, retail, or media. This is a hands-on, client-facing role for someone who designs AI solutions, leads challenging technical engagements, and becomes the go-to person when clients have a difficult challenge.

The ideal candidate follows a career path similar to that of our current senior technical leaders, beginning with hands-on data engineering and cloud architecture and progressing to AI/ML solution design before evolving into a strategic, client-facing technologist capable of working deeply with engineering teams and broadly with executive stakeholders. Qualifications and Eligibility Criteria 

• 10-15 years of progressive experience in data engineering, cloud architecture, AI/ML, and technology consulting—with a clear path from hands-on technical jobs to strategic, client-facing solution architecture.
• Deep, current technical expertise in AI/ML, cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP), modern data infrastructure (Databricks, Snowflake, dbt), and new fields such as agentic AI, LLMs, and generative AI. You can whiteboard an architecture, review code, and present to a board all in one week.
• Genuine industry experience (e.g., financial services, healthcare, private equity, retail, media, energy). You are familiar with your domain’s business models, regulatory landscape, data ecosystems, and decision-making patterns in addition to the technology.
• Proven track record of managing difficult AI and data transformation projects for enterprise clients and PE portfolio companies.
• Excellent client-facing abilities, with experience delivering technical workshops with engineering teams and strategy meetings with C-suite stakeholders. You gain trust via depth, not just gloss.
• Strong communicator who can convey difficult technical topics in business-relevant terms. You can communicate the importance of an agentic architecture to a CFO just as well as you can to a data engineer.
• Self-directed and entrepreneurial, you thrive in situations where you must solve problems rather than waiting to be instructed. You take possession of your domain and run it like your own business.
• Ambition to evolve into practice leadership over time—you are excited about the potential of ultimately managing a P&L, building a team, and defining strategic direction, but you recognize the journey begins with technical excellence.

Role and Responsibilities:

• Technical Solutions Leadership
  Create end-to-end AI solutions for clients in your industry, from discovery and requirements to system design, technology selection, and delivery management. You are responsible for the technical vision for your engagements, ensuring that solutions are production-ready, scalable, and aligned with business objectives.

  Hands-on architectural direction for AI/ML pipelines, agentic systems, LLM deployments, cloud infrastructure (AWS, Azure, Databricks, Snowflake), and modern data platforms, based on real-world experience creating and shipping these systems in production.

  Conduct technical deep dives, design reviews, and architecture sessions for client engineering teams. You set the technical standard for quality, and delivery teams rely on you for advice on complex issues.

  Evaluate evolving AI frameworks, foundation models, agentic systems, and tooling forward for your clients and industry.

• Client-facing expertise
  Serve as a trusted technical advisor to top stakeholders in your vertical, facilitating AI strategy workshops, technology evaluations, and roadmap discussions that convert cutting-edge AI capabilities into tangible business value.

  Conduct AI readiness assessments and technology due diligence and build business cases that connect AI investments to measurable ROI—speaking the language of both the technology and the industry.

  Develop and maintain strong, trusting relationships with client technical leaders and executives. You are the person people contact when they need candid, authoritative advice on their AI strategy.

  Present at industry conferences, create thought leadership content, and promote Blue Orange in technical forums to establish the company’s reputation as the go-to AI partner for your vertical.

• Vertical Domain Development.
  Develop strong domain expertise in your vertical, including an awareness of the business models, regulatory landscape, data ecosystems, and competitive dynamics that influence how AI generates value in your industry.

  Create a library of reference architectures, solution accelerators, and reusable patterns specific to your vertical, allowing for faster delivery, stronger proposals, and differentiated positioning.

  Identify the most valuable AI use cases in your company and turn them into repeatable engagement frameworks that can be scaled across numerous clients.

  Use your orchestrated bot network and automation stack for client research, competitive information, industry benchmarking, and proposal preparation—at a rate and depth that traditional architects cannot match.

• Pre-sales and Growth Support
  Collaborate with account executives, PE channel partners, and the sales team to assist pre-sales operations in your vertical, including scoping engagements, validating technical feasibility, and presenting to prospective customers with both technical authority and industry context.

  Identify expansion prospects within existing client accounts, using your domain expertise and client contacts to identify areas where AI may help solve adjacent problems.

  Provide market feedback to leadership on client demands, competitive dynamics, and emerging prospects in your vertical, which will shape how Blue Orange invests and positions itself.
